Questions & Answers

Answers to some common questions that you may require may be found on this page. If your query is not answered here then please do not hesitate to contact us.

Q.Who is the main contact?
A.Nick
Q.Who owns the domain name and hosting?
A.You own your domain name and its associated hosting. Both are renewable annually at fairly nominal cost. Normally, all contracts and access codes will be held in your possession, although we will require login details should you wish us to periodically update and work on your site.
Q.What are the arrangements for hosting?
A.We do not host websites ourselves - this allows us to focus our expertise on delivering quality websites to our customers. Fast, reliable hosting and domain registration is arranged with a major hosting provider and is inclusive in the price.
Q.How can I be sure that our target audience will be reached?
A.Many developers will offer (and charge) to submit your website to hundreds of search-engines and directories on a monthly basis. This is an unfortunate and often costly 'red-herring'. By using valid (X)HTML page coding and valid, succinct key-text your website will have the distinct advantage of being more clearly identifiable by all the main search-engines (Google, AOL search, MSN and Yahoo) and therefore of being ranked.
Smaller search-engines and directories are often specialised and we will certainly submit your website to such rankings if required. For example, if your organisation is of an equestrian nature you may wish your website to be listed in the directory at UK Horse Seeker but not necessarily in the UK Antique Dealers Directory.
Q.What else can be done to ensure that our target audience is met?
A.Most of your website traffic will arrive via either a search-engine or an external link. We will be happy to set your website up with its own related external links, by your approval and to request reciprocal links back to your website from outside agencies. Links to and from other sites will also strengthen your search-engine ranking. Offline, exposure to your website may be supplemented in the form of advertising, business or organisation stationery bearing your website address, etc.
Q.Who owns copyright of the website content?
A.Copyright of all custom designed site elements is assigned to you on completion of the project.
Q.What constitutes my package upon delivery?
A.Aside from your new online website we also provide a complete copy of your website on CD-ROM including hosting details, login details to your account(s), and any help files we feel will be beneficial. Important details in paper format will also be presented in your pack.
Q.Can I make changes to the website content/function myself?
A.By all means - it is your website and you will have full login details to upload any modified files. If requested, we can include helpful comments in your basic website pages for this purpose, otherwise in the case of advanced websites we may suggest that you invest in our maintenance package.
Q.Bandwidth is mentioned on your site. How does this affect me?
A.Bandwidth is simply the allocated size of file transferrence per month allowed by the web-host. Unless you are expecting thousands of visitors per month it is unlikely to be of concern but can easily be expanded at small cost. It can become an important concern if the files comprising your website are very large in size. Our websites are mormally created using both streamlined, highly optimised XHTML and progressively produced optimised images giving both rapid download times for your visitors and minimising bandwidth consumption.
Q.Is training needed and available?
A.Our advanced websites are designed to be extremely easy to use in order for you or your staff to update content. The only skills needed are the ability to 'cut and paste' text from an existing document into web forms. As part of the completion of the work a full explanation of how your website functions will be provided.
