Navigational aids are implemented on most of our websites in the form of access-keys. If a web page is logically structured the user should be able to skip through links easily using the TAB key. We add further functionality through access-keys that allow the user to jump from one menu link to another using the keyboard only. Not only does this benefit those who cannot use a mouse, or use screen-reading software, but it can also speed navigation for more able-bodied users.
Although it should be easy and quick to move through links in a well-designed website, we also provide a means to skip over the main menu links via an access-key, so that users do not have to negotiate your main menu on each and every page.
All access-keys are activated using a simple method. If using Windows, you can press ALT + an access-key; if using a Macintosh, you can press Control + an access-key. Note that if browsing this site with Internet Explorer you may also need to press RETURN after ALT + an access-key. The following access-keys are implemented on this website. Try them and see!
